Memorial Elementary School was pleased to have Principal Ostermeier with us. She won the Principal for the Morning at the Tornado Open this year. She was spoiled with lots of pictures and positivity from all our students and staff, as well as a special breakfast, lunch, and other perks of being the principal.

On Thursday, May 16th, Holly Kelly, with The Learning Technology Center of Illinois, will host two virtual sessions for guardians: "Navigating the Digital Seas our Students & Children Explore" Our students and children are sailing through pretty choppy waters in the digital seas. Amid digital learning and consumption rigors, many young people are under unprecedented mental pressure. Even the typical challenges of youth and adolescence are magnified online, making it much harder to find a safe harbor. How can we effectively address some of these stressors? What role can technology play in supplying that relief? How do we help our children thrive digitally and keep them safe online? Join us as we chart technology's profound impact on today's students and their developing brains. On this voyage, we'll explore what and how digital media, social media, computer literacy, and AI intersect with today's youth's daily lives. Along the way, we'll uncover how to empower our children in their digital and oxygenated lives. Sessions are not recorded. Please register if you would like a reminder email or save it to your calendar: May 16, 2024 8:30 AM - 10:00 AM: Register Here (https://www.ltcillinois.org/event/navigating-the-digital-seas-our-students-children-explore/) 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM: Register Here (https://www.ltcillinois.org/event/navigating-the-digital-seas-our-students-children-explore-2/)

Announcement
In January, the Tech Team released a new program titled Twisted Training. TCUSD3 staff members can earn badges for completing a variety of training programs and learn new skills at their own pace. For example, staff can earn a Chromebook Fundamentals badge for completing a training on the basics of using a Chromebook. This morning the Tech Team recognized the Badge Masters for the 3rd quarter with a Crumbl Cookie. These individuals earned the most badges in their respective buildings. Congratulations to Dawn Reiser, Emily Repscher, Jennifer Richardson, and Melissa Davidson!

North School is beginning the pre-registration process for incoming Kindergarten students for the 2024-25 school year. A child’s birth date determines whether or not they will attend kindergarten in the fall. If the child turns 5 on or before Sept. 1, 2024, they are allowed to register for kindergarten for the next school year. There are times a parent chooses to keep their child in preschool. Per ISBE, if a child turns 5 on or before Sept. 1, 2024, the district is not permitted to enroll them in the public preschool program (PREP). Therefore, the student would either attend a private preschool or register for kindergarten. All incoming kindergarten students must have a physical, proof of vaccinations, a dental exam and a vision exam prior to entering kindergarten. It would be helpful to schedule those appointments as soon as possible, as the clinics get overwhelmed in the summer. The district also needs a certified copy of each student’s birth certificate and two proofs of residency. If possible, return those with your pre-registration information. If a child attends a Taylorville preschool, packets will be delivered to the preschool. If the child does not currently attend a Taylorville preschool, stop by North School Monday-Friday from 8:00 am-3:30 pm. Registration materials can be turned in at the family event at North School on Tuesday, Mar. 19 at 6:00 p.m. Jim Gill will be entertaining with his “read along-sing along” activities. Doors open at 5:50. Bring a blanket for the family to sit and enjoy the concert. Anyone with questions can email kkuntzman@tcusd3.org or call the school office at 217-824-3315.
