Miss Basil's Class Third graders in Miss Basil's class had an exciting time exploring block coding with the Finch robots, generously borrowed from the ROE. Students worked collaboratively to program their robots to move, light up, and even draw shapes. The hands-on experience brought coding concepts to life, sparking curiosity and enthusiasm for technology!

Mrs. Thomas's Class at Memorial has been working on Opinion Writing this week! The students had to pick what they believe is the best Halloween candy, complete a writing map with sentences, and then finish off with composing an opinion writing piece! They are very proud of their hard work.

Mrs. Johnson’s third-grade are spreading positivity by writing inspirational thoughts on their desks! These uplifting messages serve as daily reminders to stay motivated, kind, and focused. Whether it’s “I’ve got this!” or “Be the reason someone smiles today,” students can glance down for a boost of encouragement whenever they need it. This creative approach not only inspires personal growth but also fosters a positive classroom environment.

Help Mrs. Castle’s 4th Grade Class Support Hurricane Victims! Mrs. Castle and her 4th-grade class at Memorial School are organizing a donation drive to support hurricane victims in Florida and the surrounding areas. They are asking Memorial families and the Taylorville Community to come together and make a difference! A flyer with suggested donation items has been sent home with students and is attached here. Donations can be sent with students, dropped off at Memorial School during school hours, or brought along to Parent-Teacher Conferences. Donations will be accepted from now until October 25. Let’s show our community spirit and lend a helping hand to those in need! Thank you for your generosity!

Our 3rd graders participated in the Land of Smiles assembly, presented by Delta Dental this morning, where they learned all about the importance of proper dental hygiene. Through fun and engaging activities, students discovered how to take care of their teeth, the benefits of regular brushing and flossing, and the impact of a healthy smile on overall well-being. It was a fantastic way to reinforce healthy habits in a fun, memorable way!
